Spring Has Sprung Time To Clean Your Rugs

Yes, we are in the heart of spring and with that the time to clean our rugs is here along with all your spring cleaning requirements.  We need to remember, all of your rugs have been exposed to the winter weather of snow, rain, slush, salt, sand and the dry soils that accumulate from being in a closed air environment.

We recommend all rugs are cleaned no later than every two years to maintain them, especially those that have silk, mercerized cotton, wool, jute, and or any other natural material in them.   In between the two year cleaning cycle, we recommend that you rotate your rugs 180 degrees during spring and fall.  This ensures the rug receives the same amount of traffic affect and direct sun light exposure throughout the life of the rug.  We also recommend vacuuming the rug on weekly bases.

However; if your rug is a favorite of your pet, a heavily used room then, we recommend the cleaning schedule be on yearly bases.  This cleaning will ensure that spots don’t become stains; the fiber is cared for, and will make the rug last for generations.

So, as you prepare your spring cleaning or if you think you have completed your entire task, make sure you add the rugs in your home to the list.  Area rugs need the same attention you would give to cleaning your entire home to make it last.

Cleaning your rugs every year by a professional like us, Master Rug Cleaners, will not damage your rug nor will it take away from the value of the rug.  Fact, having your rugs cleaned and repaired by a professional trained craftsman, will ensure your area rugs maintain their value, look, and last for generations to come.

Until next time, Rugman Out!
