FAQ's

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY AREA RUGS CLEANED?

Area Rugs should be cleaned every12 to 18 months to remove all the dry soils and thoroughly rinse the rug and make it last for generations.  The biggest mistake is waiting to long in between cleanings and allowing abrasive dry soils to scratch the wool fiber.  If you have pets or use the rug in heavily traffic areas of your home, you may want to clean on less then a yearly bases.

SHOULD MY RUGS BE CLEANED IN MY HOME OR AT A RUG CLEANING PLANT?

Wool rugs can’t be properly cleaned in the home environment because, you can’t properly dust, wash, rinse, groom and dry the rug.  You see dry soils become impacted deep within the fiber of the rugs from everyday usage.  When, you try to just clean in the home (Surface Clean) you can’t reach the bottom of the fiber and the matting of the rug; these wetted dry soils act like cement and make the rug at the foundation stiff and over time will harm the rug.  A plant can safely clean the rug by following the proper practices and procedures for cleaning.

WHO SHOULD CLEAN MY RUGS IF NOT MY LOCAL CARPET CLEANER?

The only one that should clean your rugs is, a Certified Master Rug Cleaner because, they will use the proper procedures to obtain the best results.  Note; I am a carpet cleaner but I am also a Certified Master Rug Cleaner with a rug cleaning plant.  Also you want them to take the rugs away, clean them and return them fresh and ready to use again.

CAN PET ODOR BE REMOVED FROM THE RUG OR SHOULD I JUST THROW IT AWAY?

A good cleaning rug plant can remove those odors and return the rug back to you smelling fresh and urine free.  We use a pet spa to fully submerge the rug with a plant based product that eats the salt in the urine and removes the smell.  We guarantee are odor removal and so should anyone that step up to clean your rug.  If they won’t guarantee the removal, then move on to the next cleaner.

WHAT IF MY AREA RUG IS FLOODED FROM WATER DAMAGE??

Again, inside a rug cleaning plant they have the capability to properly submerge and clean your rug to remove the entire odor.  We deal with flooded rugs all the time and always remove the odor from them.  You can’t just surface clean away a odor covered rug.

CAN MY AREA RUG BE REPAIRED?

Yes we have a full staff of trained repair technicians to handle from the simple secure stitch to the very complicated and skill of weaving a rug.  See our Robinsrugrepair web site for the type of repairs available.  The key is to determine if the rug’s value matches the repair cost to justify the expense.  Sometimes the sentimental value outweighs cost and the repair is done.
